How was your New Year's holiday?
I hope everybody had a great time,
and could enjoy a few days off from work.

On New Year's day, I was lucky enough to eat o-sechi.
I really like o-sechi, because in America
we don't have any special New Year's food.
My favorite o-sechi dish is kuromame, which in English means black bean.
I also like buri, which in English means amberjack or yellowtail.
Actually, I like almost all of o-sechi dishses!

Usually, for New Year's Eve my family and I drink champagne and eat shrimp cocktail.
Shrimp cocktail is basically shrimp with cocktail sauce (tomato and horseradish).

For New Year's day, I ate a lot of osechi dishes.
I also drank a lot of sake (in the morning), so I was a little tired!
