Look-a-Likes

I think Gerry looks like an ostrich, so I drew this picture of him.

He also told me that some people said he looked like a famous British musician called, John Entwistle.

Bachelor Party *Gerry*

Hi Everyone!

Last weekend I went to my friends Bachelor Party.

Have you ever been to one?

Do you know what a Bachelor Party is?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Bachelor Party      未婚の男子のパーティ

one                 Bachelor Partyの事。

------------------------------------------------------------------

Before a man gets married,

he and his friends go out for one last party.

Usually they drink a lot and go to bars or clubs and stay out very late.

In the US we call this a Bachelor Party.

A Bachelor Party is for men only no women are allowed!

------------------------------------------------------------------

go out                  出掛ける

stay out late          遅くまで外出する、夜遊びする

--- are allowed!!     --- は許されない!!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Before a woman gets married,

she (or her family) invite her friends to get together at a formal party.

Usually they get together at a home, restaurant or small banquet hall,

and give presents to the bride.

In the US we call this a Bridal Shower.

A Bridal Shower is for women only no men are allowed!

So, last weekend I went to a Bachelor Party.

We all drank a lot and stayed out very late,

but we had a lot of fun partying together.

If youre thinking of getting married,

why not try having a Bachelor Party or Bridal Shower?

First Concert at My School *Verity*

Hello :-D

I don’t know if you all know, but I am studying

music composition at a graduate school here in Japan.

I am in my second year, so I have to write a lot of music;

I also have to write my dissertation in Japanese.

A few weeks ago I had my first concert at my school.

It was a kind of composition workshop(作品発表会);

so many students who study composition have

the chance to have their music performed.

All of the students were using western instruments

in their compositions; however, my piece was very different.

I am very interested in Japanese traditional music,

so I wanted to use traditional Japanese instruments in my composition.

The piece I had performed was called 無常, and

it included the shakuhachi and the shimedaiko.

------------------------------------------------------

western instruments          西洋楽器

piece                                 曲、作品

------------------------------------------------------

I was very nervous before the performance,

but it went really well!

I was very lucky because a famous shakuhachi player

who teaches at my school agreed to play my music,

so he was able to play the piece very well.

Also, the other performers did an amazing job.

I was very proud of them.

Now I am writing my next piece.

I will be using the Japanese mouth organ () and koto- wish me luck!!

TARUMI OUTLET ***Gerry***

Hi Everyone!

Summer is here, so its time to go to the beach.

Last weekend, I went to the Tarumi Outlet shopping mall.

The Tarumi Outlet shopping mall is located

next to Sumahama (or, Suma Beach, as we call it in English).

They have a lot of outlet brand shops there,

including Coach, Diesel, Adidas, and many, many more.

Also, they have some nice restaurants there

where you can sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and cool sea breeze.

Since its the summer, I was looking for

some new clothes for work, and also for my days off.

Unfortunately, I couldnt find any clothes

that I liked and that were in my size I guess Im too tall!

However,

I was able to relax by the beach and I took a photo of Akashi bridge.

Akashi bridge is the longest bridge in Japan, and it lights up at nighttime.

Akashi is also famous for akashi-yaki, which is a little different from regular tako-yaki.

Since I went to Tarumi during the daytime,

I took a picture of Akashi bridge while I was sitting near the beach.

I hope everyone has a great summer, and can find theclothes that fit you!

Also, if you want to cool down and learn some English, please come to Imarge!

I look forward to seeing you this summer.

Must-Win Game Japan VS Cameroon

On June 14th, 2010, Japan's first game

in the World Cup kicked off at 11:00pm.

It was a must-win game for Japan

in their ambition to qualify for the next round.

-----------------------------------------------

must-win game                     負けられないゲーム

-----------------------------------------------

Japans offensive tactic was

to bombard Cameroon's penalty area with crosses from the wings.

One of these was successfully converted after 39 minutes during the first half of the game!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Matsui, MF, fended off a Cameroon defender with trickery on the wing, and crossed the ball to Honda, who was waiting in front of the goal.

Honda wonderfully controlled the incoming cross and hit a shot without hesitation

GOOOOOOOOOAL !

In the second half, Cameroon laid siege on Japan's goal, but Japan didn't allow them to create any clear-cut chances.

There were actually only a few times

when Cameroon had goal-scoring opportunities, though.

Japan played very well utilizing their best members, and the game ended 1-0.

It was an unforgettable game for Japan, which gave them 3 points in their group.
